Milhojas: a thousand layers of Latin American sweetness ...
In it's simplest form, Milhojas consists of a special thin layered dough and filling. Milhojas is thought to have originated in the city of Valencia, Spain in the 18th century. The pastry quickly became a popular dessert throughout Spain and Portugal, and eventually made its way to Latin America, where it remains a favored treat today. There are many variations of Milhojas, our recipe is originally from my hometown Lima, an ancient dessert filled with manjarblanco (dulce de leche) that still a worldwide favorite. 37.50 USD

Crema volteada is another of our traditional peruvian desserts. Crema Volteada means “Upside down cream” or “flipped cream”. Our delightful Crema Volteada is a quintessential item in the cafes which have proliferated in Lima. Perhaps the most delicious part is the caramel over the top.

A sweet and poetic dessert, (“sigh of Lima”), this luscious delight is up there on the list of sweetest desserts you will ever try. In fact, it is so sweet that I always accompany it with a huge glass of water to cut down its intensity. It also goes well with tea, or even a small glass of any liquor. But don´t get me wrong, you will find this dessert exquisite and love to have it (in small portions, of course). If you give it a try, you won´t regret it. It´s quite an unforgettable treat for those with a sweet tooth!
Suspiro limeño was probably inspired by manjarblanco, a Peruvian version of the famous dulce de leche, which was at its peak popularity during the Spanish colonial times.
